the Good Service Distraction Co.

So, Chris, I don’t know when we’re going to actually do this but I’d like it to be soon. It’s hard to work on things together lately since we’ve both been working so much and at different times of the day. I’d like to think that you are creating things in my absence so when we finally do sit down, we’ll be able to cobble something together. Anyway, I designed this as our cover. I don’t know if it will stay our cover for always, but I like it and I’m proud of it. I may come back to this [...]

Insani-tude

This has been one of the craziest months I think I’ve had in a long time. I have so far completely re-organized our living space from the possessions that we have to re-vamping our entire network. We now have what I would call a “grown-up” network. All gigabit infrastructure, a centralized server RAIDed with a 2TB backup and centralized shares for all of the media along with a UPS protecting everything. As of tonight I will have upgraded our TV computer to a Windows 7 duel-core process machine with 2gb of ram from that old Windows XP thingie we’ve been [...]

Not For Thought

OK, Chris, so, I found an old document with random crap that we said to each other or thought of and I figured I would sit down and try making a comic strip. I made this one and, considering I haven’t drawn in about 7 years, I think it came out pretty well. Next time, I’ll remember to do the lettering in ink, though. This has been my thing for the day.

My brain has a mean sucker punch

Earlier today I was trying to figure out what content was located where and how each site / service connected to each other. And then something happened, my brain punched me in the face. So once more I pull out my good friend Visio to see if I can’t figure it out that way. Two hours later I think I have a MOSTLY complete diagram of how everything is setup. It’s still missing small pieces of the social networking components, also I think I need to make an additional diagram details how I would actually like everything to look in [...]

Insomnia: Take 1

Ian, I can’t sleep. I know this isn’t a new phenomenon, but I thought I would take this opportunity to see what posting from my iPod touch would look like. So far so good, I was even able to dynamically take a photo with the device and post it directly to the site. By the way, it’s snowing, but I’m sure you will figure that out in…oh, let’s say 6 hours from now assuming you don’t get called into work early. Oh, and I also fixed the problem where the Disqus comments system was too wide, which made it look [...]

Phlogging: blogging via phone

Well Ian, it looks like our idea of blogging by phone might not be as simple as we suspected. I did, however, find numerous links to services that are deader than Friendster, such as:  www.audioblogger.com and www.phoneblogz.com. But really, we don’t want to transcribe something from a phone message into a blog, what we’re trying to do is simply put up a public answering machine that people can dial into and leave us messages. So far my biggest lead into this idea is the Google Voice service. When somebody leaves me a message on my Google Voice account it gives [...]

WTPoop is going on?

So, yeah, what is going on here , Chris, is You and I trying to figure out what’s going on here and I say “heeeeey yeah yeah yeaheah, heeeeey yeah yeah,” I said “hey! What’s going on?” Basically, we have been best friends for twenty years, we are roommates, we are creative, and we are very strange and we figured that we would try and put all that on the Internet to share our weird lives and the weird things we make with people. Beyond that, we don’t really know what we’re doing, but rest assured that we will try [...]

What the *SYMBOLS* are we doing?

READY! GO! SET! …waitaminute… When you’re setting up the a blog the first thing you want to do is…. umm… is…. Initial Setup… Download a copy of WordPress (www.wordpress.org) and stare at it for a few days. Right… so then, after that, you… realize you don’t know anything about graphic design or WordPress theme coding so you find a theme online. Next register a domain named based upon onomonopia derived from a parody voice over of the first Harry Potter movie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u981JhkK46o). Kabloomers.com, done. The Comments System… Excellent, you’re well on your way to putting hours of work into writing material [...]

From both the top and bottom of my heart, I apologize for our appearance. The current shabbiness of our web site in no way reflects our actual, and highly intentional shabbiness.
