So, Hank Green, the younger, Hanker half of los Hermanos del Vlog, has started a website dedicated to promising to read the book before you see the movie whenever possible. I am interested in this as a concept, I have made the pledge myself, and I do expect that it will get people, myself included to read more, but I am also a little leery as I very frequently find the book to be better than the movie and not every screenwriter has mastered the skill of adaptation. So, while I think there will be more reading, I also worry [...]

Thing-A-Day: Writing

Hey, Chris, it’s good that you’re making so much progress with Data Panda but it is even more gooder that embedded in your grand plan is time for our creative endeavors as it’s been feeling one-sided over here. I look forward to your triumphant return. In the meantime, Katrina and I have made an informal pact over a book over writing exercises. Our pact is, roughly, that we will do one exercise each day. This is mine: “Sometimes I feel just like a gerbil, running around and around on his wheel! You know?” Colette looked imploringly across the table at [...]

In A Handful of Dust

So, I’ve decided to attempt a “thing-a-day.” Not always calligraphy, but, I want to actually make a new thing of some kind every day. So, sometimes that will totally be calligraphy, sometimes it will be a youtube video, sometimes I’ll write something, sometimes I might draw something… you know… something. I don’t know how long I’ll do this for, but, I’m gonna do my best. This is my “Thing-A-Day” for today: Now, I obviously put that in my etsy store, but I have more to say about it. Firstly, TS Eliot is my favorite poet and everyone should at least [...]

It Just Smells Funny

Hey, the Chris, I’ve had this line in my head for months now and just haven’t gotten around to doing anything with it until just this very moment. I was originally going to see about putting the text on the cover of an old, worn book with a gothic font, but then I had this distressed paper image on my desktop and decided to use that and a wrecked typewriter font. I may still do the other one. Enjoy.

Soldiers of something something

Hey, Chris, So, I’m on the train to work (I go in early on Mondays and Tuesdays) and in addition to writing this, I’m reading “Soldiers of God” which is a comic by Kelly Clancy that I’m supposed to review for the Peace Corps. I’m way behind schedule for that, so, imma get back to it. Oh, hey, can you remember to transfer your Things data? I mean, if you have time. See you at like 1AM.

Poor Yorick

Poor Yorick

So, I made this comic like a week or so ago with normal olde time balloonery but after talking about the ‘merica balloons, I tweaked it. This is a teency skull I got from my friend Sam who used tem in an art project because she is crazy and morbid and crazy and ever since I got it (months and months ago now) I have been planning to make this very comic. I love when that crap happens. Crap. Happens. Crappens. Oh, fortune! Oh, crappenstance! PS: Chris, this is a joke from Hamlet which is a play by William Shakespeare [...]
